Greetings and new year blessings to you ALL!
I have returned home after a most beautiful, life changing trip to Colombia! I say I am back, however I feel that I am mostly back on the physical plane. Emotionally, spiritually and mindfully, I am somewhere in between. Floating between there and here, floating between the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. And it feels good. I am so grateful to be in a position to be able to move slowly for this return. Of course, there are things like getting the January schedule together before the month is over, doing laundry, answering emails, teaching my first class of the year at the Legion tomorrow, etc.. that cannot be postponed any longer. However, I am allowing myself to move slowly. Very, very slowly as I navigate what needs to be done and what can wait. Giving myself much time to process. Very, very slowly. I am bringing home much of the wisdom that was shared with me on this trip. Wisdom gained through experience, observation and exposure. And Wisdom that was shared through wise words. As I connected with the beautiful Sloths in the Amazonas, our amazing and knowledgeable guide Carlos, from Yoi Ecolodge, shared these wise words with me. I was asking how to say Sloth in Spanish. He said "Perezosos". I thought like in French, "paresseux", meaning Lazy, and said something to that effect. Carlos then explained to me that although their name "Perezosos" means "Lazy" , they aren't. They are just very slow. There is an important difference there. They aren't Lazy, they are just very SLOW! Hah.. YES! I love that. In this world of hustle and bustle, where "time is money", where so many are running non stop. Survival, scarcity, stress!!! ... Slowing down, moving slowly is sometimes perceived as being lazy. Hmmmm... But there is a difference. Thank you for pointing that out to me Carlos. Moich! And so, I allow myself a little time to move like the sloth. My upcoming classes will be inspired by Sloth. Very appropriate for this time of year and this time of in between. I invite you to give it a try. Make it your moving meditation if you can. See how slow you can go. So much magic is in the slow, the still, the pause. HERE (presence) is where the magic happens. Sending my love as I continue to unpack ALL I just experienced, will share more as I go. Sloooooooooow hugs, Sincerely, Sarah XOX
